Payment
Lesson fees are on a monthly basis and are due in advance at the last lesson of each month. A $25 fee will be charged for late payments.
Cancellation Policies
I have made my studio policies as clear and available as possible to avoid any confusion or frustration in the future. Thank you for abiding by these guidelines.
1. There will be no refunds for lessons during any given month if the lesson is cancelled by the student.
a. If the student gives at least a 24-hour notice before the lesson informing the teacher of the cancellation, a make-up lesson may be possible. Make-up lessons may be available at the convenience of the teacher, but it is the responsibility of the student to contact the teacher concerning a make-up. The make-up lesson must occur before the next regularly scheduled lesson. If a time cannot be arranged, the student is still responsible for payment of the missed lesson.
b. If a student misses a lesson without informing the teacher of the absence, no make-up will be offered.
c. Students who terminate lessons once the month has begun will not be refunded money paid for remaining lessons.
d. Students who come to the lesson with a cold (or other illness) will be sent home and the lesson forfeited.
2. The teacher will wait 15 minutes for a student to come to a lesson. If the student is more than 15 minutes late, she or he will be considered a no-show.
a. Students who come to a lesson late will not have additional time added to the end of the lesson to compensate for their tardiness.
3. If the Teacher must cancel a lesson for any reason and within any timeframe prior to the lesson, then the Teacher will make every effort to either reschedule th lesson to a time convenient to both parties, or offer full credit for the cancelled lesson which can be applied to the next month's lesson.
Holidays and Snow Days
No lessons will be held on snow days but will be made up at a time convenient to both parties. No lessons will be held on National Holidays.
Summer Lessons
All students are expected to continue flute lessons during the summer. Students who take lessons during the summer will have first choice when scheduling for the following school year.
Practice Consistent practice is essential for steady progress. I realize that the student cannot practice every day or when school projects make it impossible. Please notify me at the beginning of the lesson so that I may restructure the time. If a student is unable to practice for an ongoing time, then the student may be dropped frmo the studio at the discretion of the teacher
Practice Goals
Beginners: 4-7 days a week for 30 minutes or more. (140 minutes per week)
Jr. High: 4-7 days a week for 40 minutes or more. (200 minutes per week)
High School: 6-7 days a week for 1 hour or more as needed. (360 minutes per week)
Students must come with a working condition flute, assigned music, notebooks, swabs and rags. It is expected that newly assigned music will be purchased in a timely fashion. If the flute is in need of repair, please ask the store for a loaner or rental flute.
Parent Attendance at Lessons
Parents are welcome to attend any lesson at any time. However, regular attendance at lessons is discouraged as it tends to distract both student and teacher. Parents of students under the age of 10 should plan to attend the end of each lesson in order to be better able to help the young student practice at home.
